Southern Highlands Symphony Orchestra – 2026 Concert Series
The Southern Highlands Symphony Orchestra (SHSO) was formed in 2014 as a result of overwhelming interest in establishing a symphony orchestra in the region. The founding Artistic Director and Conductor is Dr Allan Stiles.
Our mission is to perform classical music at a high standard and to make these performances a vehicle for the involvement of musicians of all ages and the enjoyment and cultural enrichment of the Southern Highlands community into the future.
The SHSO is made up of over 50 musicians from the Highlands and surrounding districts and includes professional musicians, semi-professional musicians as well as other highly qualified musicians who cover a range of professions including: Law, medicine, IT, media, teaching and publishing. Music students are invited to attend rehearsals.
The orchestra has now become a significant feature of the educational and cultural life in the Southern Highlands.
The orchestra has performed many premiere performances by Australian composers, and has included soloists from the region, overseas and nationally.

Join us for a concert of colour, contrast, and storytelling with soprano Mackenzie Lawrence and acclaimed Australian pianist/composer John Martin. The program spans the beauty of art song and the drama of opera, with music by Wolf, Rachmaninoff, Rossini and Meyerbeer, plus witty favourites from Flanders and Swann, and Gilbert and Sullivan. A special highlight is the premiere of John Martin’s new setting of The Lake Isle of Innisfree by Keats.

Join us for the premiere of Ziv’s first solo album, New Beginnings, a collection of original works composed between 2021 and 2025. Ziv writes: ‘The album traces an odyssey of my musical journey—from early explorations at the piano to a more mature artistic voice.' Ziv Pinco is a pianist and composer currently based in Sydney, studying with Natalia Ricci at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Ziv has performed extensively as a classical soloist and collaborative pianist, spanning a wide range of styles including Classical, Jazz, Contemporary, and Musical Theatre.
